PLC Upgrade Details

         The PLC upgrade replaces all electronic circuit boards in the existing system and eliminates the card cage all together. I replace the hopper eyes with standard infrared NPN eyes and the circuit board that feeds the eyes is eliminated. All of the sync fault proximity switches are replaced with 18 MM NPN normally open proximity switches along with the existing Omron encoder. The encoder is replaced with a 360 pulse per rev quadrature encoder.  On the console the existing fault indicator circuit board comes out and a 6”color touch screen takes its place.  All of the pushbuttons on the console will still be active and function as normal in case the screen ever goes down. The trimmer will still run without the touch screen. All of the 60 volt DC relays are eliminated and new 24 volt DC slave relays are installed for the face and side knife air blast and the silicone spray valve. An interlock relay to allow the binder to run if the trimmer is ready is also installed along with remote stop and start capability. All of the existing motor contactors are reused

             New features that are not on the original system include Programmable knife change position, Programmable face and side knife angle on and off angles. Programmable stop, and setup  positions. Programmable silicone spray times, along with number of cycles between sprays. Programmable sync fault angles to compensate for machine wear. Programmable speed control from display screen in cuts per minute. The display will tell you in English what the fault is and the time that it happened. Built in diagnostic screens for viewing and monitoring every limit switch and pushbutton on the machine. A manual test mode screen for testing all devices on the machine. This is used for testing, for example, the air blasts or the knife clutch. There is a door override button on the screen so the machine can be jogged with the doors open and is automatically shut off when the door closes.
