AFUN RECORDINGS is a label co-created by Dj Afghan and Unity. It’s purpose is to promote a wide spectrum of creative Italian talent both home and abroad. Afun in collaboration with Link Propop music agency, Bologna and Urbanpressure, Rome is proud to announce the release of “Italian Bassline Vol.1”, the first chapter in the history of this up and coming label. The compilation was devised in September 2002 and showcases the original work of 11 artists/producers,many of whom have been invloved in the Breakbeat/D&B scene for a few years now. The cd is really a snapshot of the vibrant and innovative scene currently gaining momentum throughout the country. Here is a brief rundown of some of the crews/artists involved: Maffia Sound System, a well established crew of dj/producers based in the namesake club in Reggio Emilia. Rollers Inc representing the sounds of Turin as well as being part of the Pergola Tribe hailing from Milan. Afghan and Andrea Maver, resident Dj’s of the deep rooted Link Drum & Bass Arena. Unity with a flux of releases already out including pieces on the labels Hardleaders and Formation. Science Force who in 1998 released his “Escape From Smoke” lp on Irma Rec. Sygo, signed to Theoretik Records and collective member of www.Drumandbass.it. The Bass Taste Crew, a Bolognese collective and linchpins of the national D&B radio circuit including transmissions on Basstation and Radio K Centrale. Lost Generation of Funk, a crew of which is included Ivic and last but least, representing the promising hopefuls is the Arp Experiment from Cagliari and DK01 from Ferrara. To add the finishing touch to the compilation Afun Recordings decided to call in the help of Filthy Dirty Rich who is a stalwart Dj well known in the English scene for his dj work with the Community Music Sound System in London.Filthy provides the solid mixing ,spinning a healthy dose of exclusive dubplates to add to the pressure creating a powerful 54 minute mix in the process. Aside from this Filthy is also the creative mind behind Pyrotechnic Radio ,one of the most influential London based internet radio stations supported by Kool Fm. From the offstart of the project Filthy wanted to include his own unpublished track which you will find included on this Italian Bassline vol.1 compilation.The end result of what is offered by this “Italian Job” is a fiery concoction of blazing fresh tunes that can only strengthen the global scene……Enjoy.
